AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT/PERSONAL INJURIES

• Motorcycle Accident: A 57-year-old man was riding his motorcycle to work at 3:00 a.m. He became permanently disabled after the motorcycle he was riding struck the broadside of a black cow. The black cow was standing in the middle of the road, two miles from the farm. Medical Negligence: A 50-year-old, married father of three was injured when a surgical nurse used an incorrect amount of gas solution during a retinal repair surgery. This error caused excessive pressure in the man’s right eye. In order to relieve the pressure, the man’s eye had to be tapped with a needle every 12 hours for one week totaling 14 taps without anesthesia. A tap involved placing a long needle directly into the eyeball to relieve the pressure caused by the improperly mixed gas. As a result of the surgical nurse’s error the man’s pupil was permanently dilated.
